Birthday
e.
The giving and receiving of a cake always seems to conjure up an air of excitement and fascination. Regardless of age, most of us love to be given a cake and Birthdays are the perfect opportunity. When deciding on what type of cake to choose for someone, the main considerations are the person's age, their personality type and a basic idea of what they like.
The following images show some examples of my previous birthday cakes. All individually created traditional, modern and fun designs, finished to a high standard with attention to detail. The base of the cake can be a vanilla, almond or chocolate madeira, lemon drizzle, rich fruit, or carrot cake.
A vibrant design with a removable plaque to treasure as a keepsake. The figures of Eeyore and Winnie The Pooh will no doubt be familiar. Pooh has tipped over his pot of honey!
>
Designed for a 10th Birthday, this cake has a removable plaque. The cats were an interpretation of the two family pets. The big lilac Organza bow seems to bring everything together.
>
An 18th birthday with a difference. Every detail of the design was significant in some way.The clown was removed and preserved in an acrylic presentation box as a treasured keepsake.
<
The sugar Grapevine has a masculine appeal, making it suitable for this male 50th birthday. On this occasion a small bottle of port adds to the design, but alternatively various wines could be substituted. The cork stack provides some height to the cake and the wine label, some clever notations.
>
This elegant oval cake speaks for itself. The contemporary sugar spray is a single Madonna Lily with foliage, twigs looped Bear Grass. For a finishing touch it is interlaced with decorative wire and beads.

>
A novelty cake for a 40th birthday. The recipient is a Hill Walker/Hiker and the whole decoration is on a Theme Plaque, which can be removed as a keepsake. The drystone wall provides the foundation of the design which can be adapted to any hobby or pastime.
<
A novelty golf course for a 49th birthday. Depicting a stream and a fence, birthday wishes along with the balloons, rabbits which are watching intently to see what the mole is doing and the recipients age is on the flag. His golf bag is poised and ready for action.
>
A folk guitarist was the recipient of this 50th birthday cake. The main decoration shows a 3 dimensional sugar guitar and music sheet depicting the notes to
" Happy Birthday To You ".
<
Someone with a passion for Pigs so the theme of the plaque is the pigs trying to organise a birthday party. The stone wall creates a base for the design.
<
A simply iced and trimmed cake to celebrate a 65th birthday for a man. The theme of the plaque, is his garden and everything he enjoys about it.
>
A very elegant design featuring Blue Himalayan Poppies, in sugar. The ballet shoes are not! They are a miniature representation of the real thing.
